These are self-adhesive bookplates about 3 x 4 inches, peel off the back and stick into any book. I will be changing the design periodically, so the bookplate you receive might not match the photo shown.
You can enter instructions for signing in the red highlighted Notes field at checkout. Specify how you would like each bookplate inscribed. Here are some examples:
It can be as simple as “bookplate – to Jay” If you just give a name I will add an inscription like “Happy Birding” or similar. If you really just want it to say “to Jay — David Sibley” you will need to specify that.
There is limited space so try to keep the inscription to under 10 words. Here are some ideas:
“to Jay, Happy Birthday!”
“to Robin, hope you see every bird in this book”
“to Phoebe, keep looking up!”
“to Goose, enjoy your new hobby!”
“to Bob White, congratulations on …!”
Keep in mind that this inscription is signed by me, so a message like “to my dearest songbird, with all my love” doesn’t really work (You should write that yourself!)
You can order signed bookplates and get them inscribed according to your instructions.
Since I am no longer selling books directly through this website it is not possible to sign the books themselves. My solution is to offer free signed bookplates. These are stickers that can be pasted into any book, and I will personalize them with any (short) inscription you like. Follow the link to order yours.

Bookplates are an easy way to personalize a book. You can also order bookplates for books you already own! And even though it’s called a bookplate, it can stick to anything else just as well! So you can order bookplates to personalize calendars, puzzles, etc.
For books and related published products on this website the entries now link to Bookshop.org – a service that supports local independent bookstores. I hope this new system works for you, to order books from Bookshop (or even better from an actual bookstore) and then order bookplates here.
