Update: For future visitors I should explain that I posted this asย an April Fool’s Joke. This video converts the voice descriptions from the Sibley Guide to Birds from text-to-speech, and the results are pretty funny, and maybe even a little bit educational.
Today I’m very pleased to announce my latest major project. It’s a bird song identification guide in a format โ animated video โ that has been entirely, and inexplicably, overlooked by bird guide authors. I’ve been working very hard on this for a while now, so I’m really excited to be able to show it.
Enjoy! And let me know what you think.
shows promise… but a tad difficult to employ in the field (maybe Don Kroodsma could tweak it for you). ๐
If it weren’t April 1st I’d be worried!
I’m glad you got the joke! Don’t worry, it’s definitely not a serious project. It’s basically taking the voice descriptions from the Sibley Guide and turning them into audio with text-to-speech, which is just funny.
Hahaha great work.
Thanks for the laugh. That’s about how much sense the bird call descriptions make to me.
Game, set, match, no one can compete with this fabulous new resource.
Thanks Dave ๐ What do you think? A set of DVDs? A kids’ TV show?
I believe South Park launched with a joke video like this….I see a television series in Dr. Warbler’s future…
