Sibley Backyard Birding Flashcards: 100 Common Birds of Eastern and Western North America
Information from Crown Publishing
Each set includes 100 cards with illustrations on one side, and on the other side of the card the bird’s name, range map, and text about habits, identification features, and voice. Fifty of the species are common across the continent, and the remaining fifty are equally divided between common Eastern and Western species.
Beautifully designed and packaged, this set would make a welcome and educational gift for an aspiring birder of any age.
I purchased your Sibley Backyard Birding Flashcards. Where can I find a key to the range maps?
Thanks
Hi Jan, It is similar to the key in the field guides, and I’ve posted a copy of it above. I’ll let the publisher know and see if we can add it to the card sets in the future.
–Best, David
That’s driven us nuts, too.
Do you have flashcards for just eastern birds?
I don’t find a set of flash cards that just covers the eastern birds, however, this set has 25 clearly labeled cards featuring eastern birds, and 50 cards that feature birds found all over the North American continent. The remaining 25 cards feature birds found only in the west.
We love this deck. We found the Pine Siskin is not included. Are there any expansion decks?
Is there a list of the 100 birds online (so that I can see how many of them are in my area)?
Are there flashcards for seabirds and shorebirds in the Gulf?
Would love to see an expansion set!!!
Can you tell me how many of the 100 cards are related to Hawks?
I need help with sparrows. Do you have flashcards for swamp, tree, white throat, white crown, fox etc? I need to see them side by side. Thanks
Is there a distributor that has charitable connections? I was hoping the Audoban Society or the likes, but was disappointed they use you images and don’t sell your books!
Hi Sara,
Thanks for your interest! Lots of local Nature Centers sell books and other products. Many of them are associated with Audubon chapters and many are associated with other local conservation groups. I think if you search for nature shops or nature centers in your area you’ll find a place to buy these cards where your purchase will help support conservation efforts.
Good Birding,
David
Just got a set, they’re lovely but I would love to know if you have plans for an expansion!
I don’t find a card for varied thrush. I’m in NW WA. Does the “Backyard Birding” flashcards include the varied thrush? It’s a common bird here.
I would also like to express interest in an expansion deck!
